SVI Partners with Accounting for Sustainability to Advance the True & Fair Project
SVI is proud to announce a strategic partnership with Accounting for Sustainability (A4S) to accelerate the True & Fair Project, SVI’s global initiative to ensure that sustainability is no longer sidelined in financial decision-making.
The partnership brings together two global organisations committed to reshaping financial decision-making for a more sustainable and equitable future. By aligning efforts, A4S will play a strategic role in expanding the reach of the True & Fair Project, supporting a range of activities to engage the accounting and investor community.
As the impacts of climate breakdown, inequality and unsustainable business models become increasingly difficult to ignore, the question at the heart of our work becomes ever more urgent: Do today’s financial statements really give a true and fair view?
By joining forces, SVI and A4S will work to embed this question into the accountancy profession while building momentum for wider systemic change. Together, they will draw connections between financial accounting and the real-world impacts of business decisions, particularly in light of growing interest from investors and regulatory bodies in sustainability-related financial information.
“Accounting for Sustainability brings a wealth of experience, global networks, and deep technical expertise to the table,” said Ben Carpenter, CEO of SVI. “We are delighted to partner with A4S to ensure that financial reporting evolves to reflect the true costs and consequences of doing business.”
Helen Slinger, Executive Director, Knowledge and Learning at Accounting of A4S, said, “When it comes to financial reporting, many directors may be unaware of their obligation to consider sustainability within the context of meeting the true and fair requirement. This partnership reflects our shared ambition to embed sustainability into the heart of financial decision making. By challenging traditional definitions of ‘true and fair’, we can help ensure that financial reporting keeps pace with a changing world - and better equips decision-makers to respond to the pressing challenges we face.”
