Become an Accredited Practitioner
Pilot assessment now open
The requirements are changing
The SVI Professional Pathway is having a significant refresh in 2027. As part of that, we’re introducing a new route to Accredited Practitioner (Level 2) status, replacing the requirement to produce an Assured report with a set of online assessments.
A limited number of places are available for a pilot assessment. Places are allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis.
As an Accredited Practitoner, you’ll get
Independently lead social value and SROI analysis, produce reports and submit them for assurance
Full Level 2 practice rights
Make your accreditation visible to organisations looking for qualified support
Listing on SVI’s Practitioner Register
During the pilot phase we're offering a limited number of places at £750. This is half the standard fee of £1,500, which will be introduced on completion of the pilot towards the end of 2026.
Places are first-come, first-served. As part of the founding cohort, you'll help shape the assessment for future candidates.
Pilot places: £750 £1,500
Apply during the pilot and save 50%
What does the assessment involve?
Rather than submitting a social value and SROI report for assurance, you'll demonstrate your knowledge and capability through two key steps:
-
An assessment covering the learning objectives of the Accredited Practitioner Training and building on the content shared at Level 1.
-
A structured, practical interview conducted by an Accredited Expert (Level 3), involving real-world assignments. Full details are shared with candidates ahead of the assessment.
Am I eligible?
You'll need two things: current Level 1 accreditation, and completed Accredited Practitioner training through one of SVI's affiliated networks.
To secure your place in the 2026 pilot and take advantage of the 50% discounted rate, please ensure all evidence of eligibility - including active Level 1 status and proof of completed Accredited Practitioner training - are included in your application by 30 June 2026.
We're hosting a series of live briefings for Level 1’s who want to learn more about the new assessment. We'll walk through the process, including eligibility, application steps, module structure and timelines, and you'll have the chance to ask the SVI team questions directly.

Frequently asked questions
-
Yes, you can. Please be ready to provide the evidence of completion mentioned in response to the question above. We strongly recommend you read the new complete set of Standards for Applying the Principles of Social Value before the assessment, as its content is based on this.

If you submit your application to the pilot by 22 June, you will receive on 23 June a link to access Module 1 of the online exam, titled “The Purpose and Scope of Impact Measurement and Management”. You will have up to two weeks to complete this, before you receive a link to Module 2, “Identifying Stakeholders and Outcomes”.
-
The assessment comprises six online exam modules, in multiple-choice test format, which you can take at a time that is convenient for you. You will have up to two weeks to complete each module, and you will only be sent the next module upon completing the previous one.
Completion of the online exam will be followed by a live interview on Zoom, scheduled according to your and your assessor’s availability.
The pilot will be delivered in English; however, we expect the assessments to be translated into other languages in future. We will partner with JMNs to make this happen.
-
The online exam module topics are:
Module 1 – The Purpose and Scope of Impact Measurement and Management
Module 2 – Identifying Stakeholders and Outcomes
Module 3 – Measuring the amount of change
Module 4 – Valuing the outcomes
Module 5 – Quantitative data analysis and calculations
Module 6 – Reporting and embedding
The topics indicate the main focus of each module, but some questions will be testing a number of learning objectives not necessarily from the same module. For questions where your professional judgement is required, you might have to rely on your knowledge of various topics from the training.
-
Yes, it is open book. You may use training materials, SVI standards and guidance documents, notes, and any other resources during the assessment.
-
The pass mark is currently being identified by the SVI Standards Committee. It is likely to be lower for the pilot than for the future rollout. Tentatively, between 50% and 60% of the total score in each module.
For the pilot, your assessment fee includes two re-sit opportunities per exam module and similar for the interview. If for some reason you are not able to pass a certain module of the exam on the second re-sit, there will be an additional fee payable for an extra re-sit on that module.
For the interview you can expect to have a different assessor for your re-sit to ensure maximum objectivity of assessment.
In the future we expect to offer candidates only one free re-sit opportunity per module of the exam and in the interview.
-
No, you will get a pdf with all your responses and a summary of points you got indicating where the response was correct and where it wasn’t or was partially correct.
You will be expected to review the questions you didn’t get right and think of the correct responses and the explanation before the live interview. In the first part of the interview, you will provide the correct responses to these exam questions and explain why they are correct to your assessor.
-
The interviews are expected to start from late September, and will continue during the final months of 2026 as the pilot participants finish the online modules and schedule their live assessments. Details of what to expect will be shared at the same time that you are offered an interview.
-
No. Though the live interview is in English, it is not an English language test – it is a limitation of the pilot that we hope to address in the scaling of these assessments.
The purpose of the interview is to assess your understanding and practical application of the Principles of Social Value. Interviewers will be interested in your reasoning, understanding of the principles and approach to practice, rather than English fluency or vocabulary. The 90-minute time slot for the interview can be extended if requested in advance.
-
Yes. Please let us know by email accreditation@socialvalueint.org and we will work with you to tailor the assessment to your needs.
-
The first accreditations within the pilot programme are expected to be confirmed in October 2026. In terms of the individual assessment process, you can expect to get the feedback form and the result of your accreditation within 2-3 weeks of the live interview.
-
Yes. Though currently the pilot seats are limited, additional opportunities to join the Level 2 Accredited Practitioner (L2) Assessment will be offered either during the pilot implementation at later stages or after the pilot phase is complete. This will depend on the initial registrations for the pilot, the beta-testing outcomes and the capacity to deliver assessment interviews.
Express your interest in the assessment here and keep an eye on your inbox for further updates from SVI accreditation team.
-
Yes, this is possible as the assured report route for Level 2 accreditation still exists. If you would like to use it, please let us know via email accreditation@socialvalueint.org by 1 September, so that we can allocate an assessor to assure your report.
Reports can then be submitted to SVI during assurance rounds or via the fast-track service during the rest of 2026 and throughout 2027. If you notify SVI that you would like to pursue this option, please note that this is not binding in any way. If you change your mind, you can let us know this via the same email address.
