The Accounting Paradox hits bestseller lists across 13 countries

A landmark week for accounting reform - and for the global community that made it happen.

 

When Jeremy Nicholls set out to write The Accounting Paradox, the ambition was clear: to put the case for accounting reform in front of the widest possible audience. One week on from launch, the response has exceeded all expectations.

Since publishing on 24 March, the book has hit Amazon bestseller lists in 13 countries - reaching #1 in Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Spain, the UK and US, and topping categories spanning Financial Accounting, Business Ethics, Green Business and Economics.

For Social Value International, this moment carries particular significance. Jeremy co-founded SVI on the belief that the way value is understood and accounted for in decision-making needs to fundamentally change. The Accounting Paradox is a full expression of that belief - and its success is a powerful endorsement of the mission SVI has championed for over a decade.

The book is also a landmark moment for the True & Fair Project, SVI's global initiative challenging how profit is calculated by embedding sustainability-related costs into mainstream financial statements. The project argues that the tools to fix financial reporting already exist within current accounting standards and corporate law - and that the barrier is not technical, but one of will and awareness. In The Accounting Paradox, the True & Fair Project has its manifesto.

That matters enormously.
