New Impact Valuation Hub Working Groups launching this September

The Impact Valuation Hub is entering its next phase with the launch of member working groups designed to add depth, richness, and practical tools for members.

The Hub was established to help investors strengthen how impact is measured, valued, and integrated into decision-making. Following the initial masterclass series and the development of the Impact Valuation Playbook, these new groups will focus on tackling practical challenges identified by investors and producing shared resources for the community.

Valuing social impact
Investors often face challenges in selecting methods, metrics, and data that make social outcomes decision-relevant. This group explores frameworks ranging from principles-based to outcome-level approaches and will develop practical guidance on when and how to use methods such as eQALY, WELLBY, WALY, and SROI. It will also produce case examples and resources to support members in applying these approaches.

Impact valuation across investment stages
Impact looks different from seed venture to listed equity. This group will explore stage-specific tools and methods—from forecasting in early-stage venture, to impact-adjusted cashflows in private equity, through to portfolio-level valuation in listed markets. The goal is to surface best practices and comparative insights members can apply in their own investment processes.

Attribution and additionality
This group focuses on the complex questions of who gets credit and what would have happened anyway. It will address horizontal and vertical attribution, counterfactuals, and boundary setting to ensure investor claims are fair, credible, and comparable. Members will co-develop practical guidance to help avoid double counting and apply attribution consistently.

New to impact valuation?
For those earlier in their practice, the masterclass series led by Impact Institute starts in October, working through the actions set out in the playbook while helping participants build a live case study for their fund or portfolio company.
