Report Assurance
Demonstrate high-quality Social Value & SROI reporting with independent, principles-based assurance
What is Report Assurance?
Report assurance is an independent review of your SROI or social impact report to confirm that it meets the Principles of Social Value and aligns with recognised best practice. It ensures your report applies good practice, giving stakeholders confidence in the decisions informed by your findings. The process is guided by the SVI Report Assurance Standard, which sets out what good practice looks like for social impact reporting.

Reports Database
Looking for examples of assured reports?
SVI hosts a free Reports Database, which hosts hundreds of examples of SROI and social value reports. Many of these have been through the Report Assurance process, identifiable by their Assurance Certificate.
All authors of assured reports have the option to share their report on the database as a public good. However, this is not mandatory as we understand that some reports are intended for internal decision-making only.

Your report will undergo an initial review by SVI's Assurance Team before being shared with an external assessor for a full review.Following the review, feedback will be shared with one of the four possible classifications:
Report Assured
Report does not meet the assurance criteria, but can do with changes made within an amendment period
Report does not meet the assurance standard and will require resubmission after substantial changes
Report Assured with a limitation statement: 'Limitation of the application of Principle 4: Only include what is material'
-
Use feedback from the assessment to improve your report. If your report gains assurance, you can consider sharing it with the wider social value community by having it uploaded to the Reports Database.

There are a number of support services available as you prepare your social value or SROI report:
1. The Report Assurance Standard provides a checklist to support you as you develop your report.
2. SVI’s Pre-Report Assurance Outcomes Check enables you to check that the way you’ve engaged your stakeholders and defined outcomes is aligned to the Report Assurance Standard criteria, for a small fee.
3. If you are a member of SVI or any of its Joint Member Networks, you can gain peer support from other members through regional meetings and webinars, and the Global Community Hub. Contact your network to find out more, or learn more about our membership opportunities here.
