Natural Capital
for Business Decision-making

The health of the natural world underpins the wellbeing of people.

In learning to manage natural capital, practitioners can help organisations account for the nature they rely on and shape, before it becomes a cost to communities and a risk to the business alike.

That's why SVI is working the Capitals Coalition to equip practitioners with the skills to identify, measure and value business impacts and dependencies on nature.

Whether you want to bring this thinking into your own organisation,
or become an accredited trainer yourself, this is your opportunity to lead.

What is natural capital?

Natural capital refers to the world's stock of natural resources, including plants, animals, air, water, soils and minerals, that combine to yield a flow of benefits to people. Every organisation depends on these resources, directly or indirectly, and every organisation affects them, whether visibly or not.

The Capitals Coalition's Natural Capital Protocol offers a structured way to identify, measure and value these impacts and dependencies, turning them into information organisations can use in strategy, risk management and everyday decision-making.

A framework only creates change when people apply it. That's why SVI's training and accreditation programme is designed to help you put the Protocol to work, whether by bringing it into your organisation or training others to use it.
